The New York Times article, "A Hard Look at the President" featured analysis from an article in the PSO's Politics & Policy journal authored by Stephen J. Farnsworth and S. Robert Lichter.  Entitled, "News Coverage of New Presidents in The New York Times: 1981-2009," Farnsworth and Lichter evaluate the Times' coverage of President Obama compared to his three immediate predecessors.
