CALL FOR PROPOSALS:

Middle East Dialogue 2018:
A New Collective Vision
Friday, March 23, The historic Whittemore House, Washington DC

The Policy Studies Organization (PSO) and The Digest of Middle East Studies (DOMES) are pleased to announce the Middle East Dialogue 2018.

The Middle East Dialogue (MED) has established an international reputation as a focal point for new research, and a forum for the exchange of opinions and different views about issues of social, political, and economic reforms.  In addition, discussions go on concerning women's rights and roles in the new Middle East, and ethnic and religious tolerance.

Proposals are sought from individuals or groups on topics relating to the areas mentioned above. Proposals can be configured variously as twenty minute individual presentations, or round table discussions on particular topics. Proposals are encouraged to explore present, past and futuristic approaches to these issues and "what if" scenarios, as well as conflict resolution, and problem-solving solutions. Visit the main site to see lists of presenters, proposals, and videos from previous years. Papers presented at the MED will have the opportunity to be published.

Proposals of one to two pages should be sent as email attachments by or before December 15, 2017 to PSO Executive Director, Daniel Gutierrez Sandoval at  This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. . Proposals submitted by the early deadline will be given priority. A panel of reviewers from the Digest of the Middle East Studies International Editorial Board, will recommend select papers for publications in the peer-reviewed journal DOMES, published by Wiley-Blackwell.

Conference fee*:

The Policy Studies Organization and Westphalia Press want the conferences open to as many as possible and have non-financial co-sponsors, so a simple request will forgive the registration fee. We do need people to register however (link at the top of the page), because we need the number coming for catering, seating, printing, etc. When you register simply indicate that you wish to have the registration waived and it will be our pleasure.

The conference registration fee* is $200 for presenters and $250 for attendees. Checks can be mailed to the PSO at:

*Arrangements can be made to waive the registration fee on a case by case basis. For more information, please contact Development and Programs Associate, Gabriella Fernandes, at  This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Co-sponsors of MED include: University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM); American Public University System (APUS); the Next Century Foundation (NCF), and the Capital Communications Group, Inc. (CCG).  Other sponsors are invited and will be listed on MED2016 and PSO web sites, program announcements, DOMES and other PSO journals, and final program to be distributed at the conference.

We hope that you join us in Washington on March 23, 2018, in what promises to be another successful gathering of scholars and policy makers to discuss issues dealing with this vital part of our global economy and strategy.
