Forum on Health, Homelessness, and Poverty
The Forum on Health, Homelessness, and Poverty is an academic conference bringing together policy researchers, policymakers, and those working in the community to significantly reduce the effects of homelessness on health, and to study the relationships among health, poverty and homelessness in an effort to improve policy design and outcomes. The most recent forum took place on Thursday, November 6, 2015.
PSO's World Medical & Health Policy journal plans a special issue and workshop examining all aspects of global food security and its implications for human health, including consideration of agricultural productivity; access to water; climate change; land rights; infrastructure; rural development capacity; research and application of new production technologies; extension services; post-harvest losses; governance; corruption; health and nutrition; conflict; urban food insecurity; social safety nets; existing and new multilateral initiatives, including the Obama Administration’s Feed The Future Initiative, particularly its whole of government and country-led approaches; integration with food aid, education, gender empowerment, and other cross-cutting development initiatives; private-public partnerships; monitoring and evaluation; food security as a human right; adequate funding, and the development of political will.
The 3rd Annual Workshop on Global Food Security and Health is planned for November 16, 2016 for presentation and discussion of relevant research. The workshop will be held at George Mason University’s Schar School of Policy and Government in Arlington, Virginia.
Completed manuscripts should be submitted to World Medical & Health Policy at http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/wmh by December 2, 2016 for peer review.
