What kinds of manuscripts do you consider for publication?

We accept only original manuscripts with sound theoretical and empirical grounding. For specifics on the types of manuscripts we accept, please see the page on submissions where you will find detailed instructions as to manuscript type, format and submission procedures

How fast do you evaluate / publish?

Our goal is the quickest turnaround possible for the reviewing process. We have gone to great lengths to obtain state of the art software and hardware for managing this process but ultimately reviewing times will depend on the number of submissions and reviewers. Here at PSJ we have set the following goals for manuscript review:

  • Any manuscript that does not fit the specific criteria specified in the Submissions section will receive notice electronically within seven working days.
  • Our goal for the time from submission to providing notice and reviews to the author(s) is one month, NEVER to exceed two months! This goal will also hold for the revise and review process
  • Estimated time for publication will depend on when the submission is received and when press copies are due to the publisher. Currently, there is no backlog of pending publications so manuscript publication should take place in the second issue after the date of acceptance. Projected publication dates will be provided, at the authors request, after manuscript acceptance.

Are you interested in materials from non-U.S. authors?

We are not just interested; we strongly encourage submissions from the international community!

What is the "embargo policy" on presenting my work pending at your journal elsewhere?

There is no "embargo policy" per se, however, we will only entertain manuscripts that are original, unpublished and not under consideration elsewhere. We will consider manuscripts that are based on government reports, private studies, or non-English journals.

Do you require copyright transfer?

Yes! Upon acceptance, the author(s) will be required to submit a signed original copyright transfer form. The form will be provided electronically upon acceptance of your paper and will be required to return it to us by mail.

What's the policy on publication of data sets (supporting materials)?

We do not require archiving of data used for a publication; however, we strongly encourage this practice. We will maintain an archive of all submitted data under the following provisions:

  • Data archived from publications will only be released for classroom instruction or replication
  • All data sets maintained by PSJ will only include those data used in the actual publication
  • To preserve the rights of test subjects, all identifying markers will be stripped from any data set housed at PSJ
