Exploring Online Education
Researching to Learn, Learning to Research: Political Science in an Online Environment

Seattle, Washington
Wednesday, August 31st, 2011

Sponsored by the Policy Studies Organization, American Public University System, and the journal Internet and Policy. The Teaching Workshops are offered as a contribution to the teaching and research community.

This short course will be divided in two sections:

1. Teaching and Learning. In addition to focusing on best practices for teaching and learning in Political Science in an online environment, we will also discuss assessment. How can we ensure our assessment measures are meeting the course learning outcomes, and how do we know students are learning what we want them to learn?

2. Researching. Here we will focus on ways to infuse information literacy skills into a Political Science curriculum as a way to improve student research. We will also focus on how to use the tools available for research, including lib-guides and program portals.
